Cities, peripheries and territories:
Ancient and contemporary technologies for imagining the future.
Science and Voices of the Amazon - In cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and CISAM (Integrated Center for Sociobiodiversity of the Amazon) of UFPA, Professor Ana Cláudia Cardoso will promote the debate:
Cities, peripheries and territories: ancestral and contemporary technologies to imagine the future Perspectives: peripheral, indigenous, Brazilian, Chilean, Indian, German, French, among others. Institutional Partners: CISAM/UFPA, authors of the Amazon Atlas, NIE/CREST Mysore/India, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences/Germany and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Heinrich Böll Foundation Brazil and Chile.
Approximately 58% of the world's population lives in cities—roughly 4.8 billion people. Among them, about 800 million face precarious conditions, making them the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. At the same time, in urban peripheries and small agglomerations located in regions with peripheral rural characteristics, inspiring projects are emerging that propose innovative adaptation solutions and new forms of governance. Ancestral ideas, such as "stilt houses," coexist with modern approaches to disaster management, including the use of artificial intelligence. Identifying, understanding, and connecting these experiences will be the main objective of this event.
 Methodology
• Survey of ancestral and current technologies: How to creatively adapt to climate challenges? → Information gathering and peer learning
• Collective mapping of adaptation scenarios that can be visualized on the platform
• What alliances are possible? → Opening a common forum for future collaborations on the platform
Participation of representatives from projects of the Positive Future Project Platform and specialists VisãoCoop
