Human Security Salons
Human Security Salons (HSS) are informal gatherings of actors and stakeholders, politicians, NGOs, activists, academics, journalists and interested individuals. HSSs are an opportunity to address a particularly challenging and pressing subject and to exchange ideas in a safe space. Our focus at Global Unit for Human Security of Heinrich Böll Foundation is on actively listening to perspectives and experiences of actors and stakeholders in the Global South. It is our aim that through these discussions, we develop a more nuanced understanding of the ways in which our values (democracy, human rights, ecology, self-determination, and justice) relate to actual concerns and developments on the ground, and finally to the outcomes of our actions/policies. At our HSS, we place human security at the centre of our discussion, both as a concept and a framework, and wish to explore ways in which we can address pressing international developments differently.
