Powering the Narrative

Communicating India’s Energy Transition

India is at a defining moment in its clean energy journey. As energy demand rises and the country pursues its 500 GW non-fossil capacity target for 2030, the challenge is not only to scale renewable infrastructure but to ensure the transition is inclusive, equitable, and environmentally sound.

To strengthen public understanding of the complex technical and social challenges ahead, the Heinrich Böll Foundation New Delhi Office is launching The Indian Energy Transition Series—a set of short explainer videos with curated readings that highlight technical, social, and justice dimensions of the transition. Developed in collaboration with civil society experts, the series brings together diverse perspectives to deepen engagement with the multifaceted realities of India’s clean energy journey.

This webinar marks the launch of the series and explores how strategic communication, community engagement, storytelling, and awareness of social and environmental dimensions of the transition can help build a positive and participatory narrative around India’s energy future. The discussion will reflect on how effective storytelling can help to position India as a global leader in equitable and innovative green development.
