Feminism in South Africa at a Time of Global Reckoning
Reclaiming Power, Redefining Justice
Thirty years after apartheid, South Africa stands at a critical juncture. The early vision of social transformation and equality has been eroded by austerity, political capture, and the weakening of institutions meant to advance gender justice. This status quo contributes to unyielding gender-based violence and deepening inequality, particularly for Black working-class and rural women.
This dialogue brings together feminist activists, scholars, and practitioners across generations to foster collective reflection, and identify key demands for structural reform, rooted in South Africa’s lived realities and resonating with global struggles for gender justice.
