Panel discussion
Climate politics at the expense of indigenous peoples' rights
The role of international trade in CO2 certificates in the run-up to COP30
Market-based approaches to forest and land-based climate protection in the Global South are intended to square the circle: affordable climate protection for the main perpetrators of the climate crisis, investment and development in the Global South. At the same time, they are intended to close the climate finance gap. In view of the EU climate target for 2040, Germany is also likely to make use of these instruments in the future. The risks to the climate, nature and human rights are high – including for the Amazon region and its inhabitants, where this year's Climate Conference (COP30 in Belém, Brazil) will take place.
At this event, we want to highlight the impacts of compensation projects and take a critical look at current developments in Germany, the EU and international climate policy.
The Research and Documentation Centre Chile-Latin America (FDCL), FIAN Germany, Forum Environment & Development, Heinrich Böll Foundation, Climate Alliance and Misereor cordially invite you to attend.
Afterwards, we look forward to a lively exchange over light refreshments and drinks!
